Private investigator Ian Cameron wakes up in a hospital bed. He doesn't remember who he is or what happened to him. All that remains is the memory of dark hooded figures and two strange things: a bloody business card with the name of a master magician and a pocket watch with time stopped on it. In order to recover his lost memories, Ian goes to the women who found him unconscious. Edwina and Mary Blackwood, witch sisters with a dark past, run a shop where they sell things they've picked up on the banks of the Thames. But it's not just the semi-precious trinkets she finds that interest Mary - she's fascinated by the dead, whose memories the witch collects in balls of light, like children's toys. By taking the memories of her husband, who survived, Mary sets in motion a murder investigation that threatens the long-standing bond between her and her sister. Meanwhile, rumours are spreading through London that a serial killer is on the loose in the city. The more the sisters' secret is revealed, the more dangerous the streets become. Edwina helps Ian recover the memory of the lost time, but will they become the next victims?
